The word “companion” is derived from two Latin words: “com,” which means “together” or “with” and “panis” which means “bread.” So, literally, as companions we are people together with bread: we are together with each other and with Christ’s Body, which we experience in the breaking of bread in the Eucharist and in being a Christian community. This Journey Group will be held on Zoom and is designed for people of a “certain age,” i.e., 60 and over, who want to be in community with each other and who are open to talking about where we encounter the Risen Christ in our lives right now or where we struggle to encounter him. Ellen will share a poem or reflection each week to serve as doorway for discussion. No knowledge (or even affection for) poetry is required, nor is any preparation.
