Sundays, March 22 & 29, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Leader: Dr. Laura Hernanzez-Ehrisman
This group is open to new participants.
In this group we will explore Francisco Cantú’s The Line Becomes a River: Dispatches from the Border, a memoir which describes Cantú’s experiences as a border patrol agent on the U.S. Mexico border. This book offers a nuanced, empathetic account of a timely political issue and immerses us in the physical environment of the borderlands. He also uses many Christian allusions to invite us to reflect on how we create and cross borders, how we grapple with violence, and how we seek healing and transformation. Participants are recommended to purchase the book, in order to gain the most from our weekly discussions.
